BMW Oil Warning LightHOW DO YOU CHECK YOUR BMW R-BIKE OIL?

It's a bit quirky, so make sure you're always checking your oil level correctly. It's best to establish a consistent routine to follow every time.

      1. You want to make sure your bike is completely warmed up, so go for a great ride that's at least 30 minutes long.
      2. Park in a level area, FIRST placing your bike on the side stand for a minimum of 15 minutes.
      3. Switch the bike to the center stand and give the oil a few minutes to settle.
      4. Get on your hands and knees and look at the Oil Site Glass

If the oil is below 1/4 of the window, then it's definitely time to add oil to your engine.

REMEMBER: An empty site glass isn't saying you need a full quart, you should always add 4 ounces at a time and allow the new oil to make it's way down to the site glass before adding more.

MotoMarin technical staff.

On any given day in the shop at MotoMarin, you can walk through and see an incredible variety of bikes on the lifts. Not only do we offer certified work on BMW, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi, but you can find our tech's working on anything from Japanese sport bikes to a vintage Norton Commando. With a combined total of 70 plus years of experience, our technical staff offers a depth and breadth of knowledge that ensures the highest quality of both service and workmanship to our customers.

Noel Lynch
Noel started out his career in motorcycles working as a motorcycle messenger in his hometown of Dublin in Ireland. He is now not only our lead certified BMW technician at MotoMarin; but is also certified on Ducati, Moto Guzzi and Triumph motorcycles. In his 30 years of mechanical experience, Noel has built a formidable resume including certifications from ASC as a master technician and diagnostic master technician. He also brings the experience of nine year as an independent vintage bike specialist and vintage race preparation.

John Burkle
Even as a young boy, John showed an inclination for working on motors of all sorts, taking it upon himself to keep the family car in good running order.

John now has 27 years of experience as a technician, specializing in Japanese motorcycles; he is a fully certified Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha and BMW motorcycle tech. He also brings his experience of race preparation work, custom fabrication and major motor work. As if that were not enough, he is certified to work on Ski-Doo/Bombardier equipment and Honda power equipment.

John has built engines for championship winning drag ATVs, and is the 2001 to 2003 Alaska Grassdrag State Champion, having both built and ridden the ATV to the title!

Also an avid snowmachiner, John is the personal technician for Dane Ferguson, X-games Gold Medalist from 2000 to the present.

Michael Neild
Despite being the youngest member of our service crew, Mike has been working on Aprilia motorcycles since the marque was first introduced into the US market. Cutting his teeth as a fully certified master technician at one of San Francisco’s premier Aprilia shops, he now has fifteen years of experience working on all types of motorcycles, and ten years working on what has become an ever increasing range of Aprilia motorcycles and scooters. Within the motorcycle industry and community, Mike is renowned for his skill in diagnostic work, especially with electrical systems, engine rebuilds and race preparation.

Now that he’s joined the team at MotoMarin and relocated to San Rafael, Mike rounds out the technical staff with his considerable experience with Aprilia Motorcycles.

Mike is an avid road and mountain bike cyclist, and often takes the long way to work, tearing up the trails!
